The Rules of the Game 1939
proud to introduce the newest inductee to my "it's a great movie, but I'm stupid" club. Undoubtedly one of the best to do it. At once darkly comical and comically dark, utilising shots and lighting that in 1939 must have had peoples eyes going awooga awooga out of their skulls, and made positively five dimensionally grim by remembering that the worst war in the history of the world was just about to start, but somehow I just didn't muster a lot of enthusiasm. Maybe I'm too tired/too not-on-adhd-meds-yet, but it doesn't go in my Mystical Box of Delights. Great movie, but I'm stupid.
