The Twilight Samurai 2002
Underrated samurai film. Hiroyuki Sanada’s role as Twilight Seibei is superb. There are no unnecessary noises just essential sound effects. During the final fight scene, the choreography and sound effect are very tense and unsettling. The cinematography also captures minimalistic scenes that are very essential to the plot. The film is overall aesthetically pleasing.
The plot-line captures how poverty stricken Seibei was. It is a simple but effective plot-line. Sometimes, simplicity is the answer to perfectly capture the samurai essence and perfect a storytelling to the maximum capacity. The facial expression of the actors also complimented the minimalist setting of the plot.
