The Duke is not your typical heist film, but this movie is funny, heartwarming, and fairly historically accurate. All the characters have clear motivations and are consistent. More importantly, they're all likeable.
While you start the movie at the end and you see the heist, you'll still find a few surprises.
While the acting is fine and George is a good character, the rest of the movie isn't bringing much to the table. The plot is bad, the leading man hasn't shown any reason for both women to be into him, the leading lady is a bad person, and the engaged couple are in an unhealthy/unequal relationship. There is not nearly enough humor to carry the movie.

It's a very well-made movie that I didn't enjoy watching. Every detail we are given becomes relevant in the end. All of it advances the plot. Paula is a compelling character and the acting is good.
