  I once heard on an interview that lars von trier considered bergman somewhat of a "father figure". I've watched plenty of lars' movies but only a few bergman's. Now I see what he meant... the collages, the pessimism towards life as a whole, the dreadful perspective on the psychology of women, he really took it all an made a career out of it and it's so blatant now. The movie is great btw.
