  Being generous this film touches on some profundity regarding a woman’s mid-life sexual crisis but is otherwise a vapid and largely lame attempt at eroticism a la Saltburn which misses its audience entirely. Stop referencing Kubrick if you’re so so far inferior !!!!

  Gorgeously novelistic and really funny, Poor things is a surreal Bildungsroman which follows the self-education of Bella Baxter. The narrative follows Bella’s process of self improvement (Emerson is name dropped) from primitivism to enlightenment with a particular strain on feminist issues. A surprisingly heartwarming if not at times on the nose testament to how ‘interesting’ it is to be a person- and a triumph of the will and resilience.
