Weirdly, not the worst movie I’ve seen this year.
Don’t get me wrong, this movie is bad. Butttttt… not THAT bad! Mickey 17 had all the right ingredients. A stellar performance by Robert Pattinson, a unique sci-fi aesthetic, a cleverness to the world building, and an over the top and wild story. Decent movie. Slow and inconsistent pace. Felt a little Oscar baity. Essentially the premise is the Catholic Church has corruption which is a pretty belabored point. Some themes were engaging but none of the themes felt like they were fully teased out.

I’ll review this film in two halves because I took a thirty minute break about halfway through.
First half:
Incredibly beautiful cinematography and visuals. Colors are superb. Captured a sense of wandering. But the pace was very slow. It was hard to get a sense of where the story was going and if it was going to have any kind of story or if it would simply be a beautiful wandering film.
Second half:
Probably a masterpiece in certain ways.…
