My expectations were low, and it did not disappoint them. The changes to 'modernise' the story just end up becoming unnecessary roundabouts, ironically making the almighty Evil Queen look confusingly weak and feeble, like her authority never made sense in the first place.
Gal Gadot... whew. I'd almost feel bad for her, because you can see that she is having the time of her life playing this and tries her best to ham it up, but she isn't cut out…

It is simply astounding in its originality, both regarding its animation and the story it conveys, remaining captivating from the very beginning to its end, feeding the audience just enough to keep them intrigued, all while teetering on the edge of the border between mundane and magical.
My sole complaint is that the cel shading makes it look so blurry at certain points that it's like I am playing a computer game on the lowest possible graphic settings so it won't slow down too much. It wasn't frequent, but it was noticeable enough to take me out of it in those points.
