Whimsical. That's my review in one word.

It's a charming movie for kids that is still a joy to watch as an adult. The children are charming and hilarious while the adults are fun and friendly. The world is full of playful, mysterious, and harmless adventure.

Only complaint is the voice acting. The HBO version only had the English actors which were fine but a bit melodramatic or hammy at times.

Watch this movie when you're stuck in bed with the flu or something.

Would have never considered this until the Oscar buzz. I had previously only seen Tangerine by Baker so. I had some idea what to expect, but this movie is so much more.

It's hard to find fault with it - everything is done so well from the cinematography to the dialogue to the performances. I loved every bit of this movie and couldn't help but feel immense sympathy for every character (almost).

Will definitely be rewatching this soon.

Disclaimer about this movie: this movie is not for everyone. This movie takes place in early 20th century Ireland, but is not a movie about Ireland. My Irish family hate this movie.

I love this movie. I don't understand it but I think it's a great exploration of character and conflict, warning of the shortcomings of community, and showcasing the perils defining yourself through others.

And the dialogue! I love how conversation is woven in this movie, almost as if…
