  I lost track of how many movies there were in this series and thought I had seen them all already. The first two felt like four or five.
  I have nothing productive to say. Patrick Wilson was fine. The kids were fine.
  Two minutes in you'll know exactly where this is headed and if you don't bail at that moment then you have no one to blame…

  When Evil Lurks 2023

  When Evil Lurks gives the demonic possession sub-genre a long-overdue makeover. It establishes a world where demonic possession has become more common, and follows rules that have a resemblance to modern zombie tropes. Many original ideas in horror are in fact thoughtful, rigorous recycling of what's come before, so I'm not finding fault in that here.
  There are plenty of moments that shock and disgust, but the movie has an emotional core that kept me invested.

  Watching this is like waking up from a nightmare as a kid and spending half the day trying to remember it, only getting brief glimpses of it throughout the day. Those disjointed memories of the dream fade and distort more and more as time passes, leaving you with only a vague sense of dread that's difficult to shake until you sleep again.
  I don't know how to rate that.
