    I'm Still Here

    ★★★★

Beautiful, warm Brazilian family is living a full, passionate, rich and happy life right at the beach of Rio de Janeiro.
The sun baked scenes on the beaches and around the house are complemented with a fantastic Brazilian soundtrack. Didn’t Shazam that much ever during a movie.

But then Jaws appears .. and he has an eye on the father. Cruel, heartless, evil shark represented by the Brazilian army in the seventies.

  • Daisies

    Daisies

Absurdistic, nihilistic, hedonistic, senseless, meaningless collection of craziness.

Could be interpreted as a feminist pamphlet making a statement about the gap between the haves and have nots.

    The Weeping Walk

    ★★★★

Funny as only the Belgian can .. dry absurdism without a crack in this armor of seriousness.

The plot is too strange to elaborate on. Beautiful still camera shots where the story passes you by and leaves you stupefied behind.

‘Shit your pants in an act of solidarity’

    The Making of a Japanese

    ★★★★

Great insight in the educational system of a primary school in Japan. Great commitment of the staff. Their continuous effort to think about the impact and effectiveness of their actions, words and the tone of voice, is touching.

The music teacher is missing the point as is painfully illustrated during the cymbals audition. This little girl is comforted by a genius female teacher who always find the right words and tone of voice. She deserves a statue. In the end the little girl triumphs during a welcoming concert for the new scholars hitting the cymbals with force and confidence!!
