  Above all, Red One is a a movie that makes you ask questions. Questions like:

  Were Christmas movies ever good? Can a Christmas movie be good? Is this movie endorsing, or critiquing the surveillance state? Is this a moral way to spend $250 million? Is that even a drop in the bucket compared to how much annual plastic waste generated for this holiday? Is The Rock phoning it in, acting, or have my standards just fallen?

  
  There’s a point where Johnson’s character says “I can’t be disappointed, because I never had any expectations to begin with.”

  I had no expectations for this movie—can I be disappointed?
