I wanted to keep watching because it was so beautiful and unexpected, but not because I gave a lick about what happened to the central character, who had no redeeming or even interesting qualities. Stylish lettering throughout.

The messages are familiar, the problems and solutions are known, but I’m not sure I’ve seen a film so simultaneously devastating and hopeful. Attenborough speaks so poignantly because he speaks plainly, without bluster. It was especially powerful to follow the Earth’s transformation through the course of his own life.

I will probably need to see this many more times before I really get it, but I knew it was special on the first viewing, even without the Malick hype.

It is unclear, fragmented, difficult to follow. But this is how life works. "The Tree of Life" is the most accurate representation of memory I've ever seen in film.

Made-for-TV quality, but fascinating for any computer fan. Noah Wyle as Steve Jobs is a brilliant casting move.
