  As a completionism, I for one love the absolutely horrid quality footage that was reinserted into the Uncut version, to give us two seconds of a lesbian embrace or various other moments of jarring lo fi film making. Abel Ferrara takes us down to the seedy red light district of NYC, with Tom Berenger & Jack Scalia working as booking agents for an a-team of performers and naturally, women of the night.   Phantasm 1979

  After so many years, there really only is one Phantasm (besides the other Phantasms). A nightmare put to film, complete with dream logic, surreal imagery, and a horrifying omnipotent antagonist. I think Lynch might owe a penny or two to Mr. Cosacarelli, I see something there. The film breezes along in a nearly wordless expanses of eerie atmosphere and oddball horror sequences, with a placed-out-of-time cast of folk duo and BOY. Shout out to Reggie, sporting the horseshoe hairline with the pony tail and somehow being allowed to sell ice cream to children.
