  beautiful time capsule of a film with a lovely animation style. it doesn't have a grand story or anything, but is personal and heartfelt. I especially enjoyed the flitting between modern day Cuba and the 1940s. if you like animation and you havent seen this film you're missing out

  am I stupid? did I not get this film?? why is it a cult classic? it's literally just some self indulgent creep and his weird fantasy of an 18 year old falling in love with him?? and Vincent Gallo went around telling everyone that the reason the film failed is cos christina ricci was too fat... like I'm not trying to "cancel" the film or whatever I just think it's implausible and sickening to watch. like I find it hard…
