Overall, the movie was another over the top pseudo horror flick, as seems to be the norm over the past few years, highlighted by a handful of mostly wasted humdinger casting choices: notably Edebiri, Malkovich, the ever fabulous Juliette Lewis, Beef’s Young Manzino, Tatanka Means, and the indomitable Tony Hale. Surrealist humor is having a moment! One for him - Bong Joon Ho for the arts not the charts!

Quotes captured opening night, AMC Kips Bay:

“Dark comedy set in space is right up my alley. I was walking a different alley tonight.”

“I’d watch it again immediately if they offered a BOGO”

    “It wasn’t funny at all”

“I feel like I’m going to spoil a few experiences with my take”

“This movie was one threesome away from an 8”

Poorly woven threads from the previous films, rotten nostalgia, and a convoluted yet somehow predictable script were the foundation for the worst Matrix yet.

GLADIATOR II, unsurprisingly, was a film that could be best described as a spectacle with unresolved sentiment - more focus on fantastic moments than force of will. Resolution felt unearned, characters you were supposed to believe in simply faded as their story ended. While there were certain moments that threatened to invoke emotion, there was a clear and utter lack of soul throughout, which implies that the moments were nostalgia-driven.

One core issue with the writing, beyond some of the…
