  The gore is the message in this film. A visually beautiful movie, but it lacks a more detailed script. 

  I understand it’s tough — damn near impossible — to put a compelling backstory into this film that rationalizes why the country split apart, in a way that doesn’t alienate viewers. But this story needs that level of detail to feel full and compelling. 

  Also, the president’s death felt so anticlimactic for hinging the entire hour-and-a-half movie on it.
