Believer 2018
Johnnie To's Drug War is pure cinema. Believer, which is based on Drug War, sadly is not. Maybe I would have enjoyed Believer more if I hadn't already watched Drug War, but there really is no good reason to watch Believer, any more than there is good reason to watch the 1998 remake of Psycho.

Woodlands Dark and Days Bewitched: A History of Folk Horror 2021
I was kind of surprised at how little I enjoyed this. What starts promisingly turns into a mostly irrelevant and boring mess. There's no real structure, and a lot of irrelevant commentary from academics and film festival types with nothing much to say about folk horror to begin with. The American section is, oddly, the largest portion of the film, while the non-English-speaking world is mostly glossed over. Quite a disappointment. Needed focus and direction and to be edited to half the length.
