How did this not get nominated for ANYTHING?? It’s been a little over a year since I first saw this, and it has continued to be my favorite film of 2024. The cinematography is unbelievably visually pleasing and the sound design is just perfect. Guadagnino’s direction is really clinical, where every element is carefully thought out and important to the final product. The narrative is super dynamic, where every character’s motivations are layered and complex as the audience flips between…

Blade Runner 1982
My past few watches have been the Director’s Cut, but this time I rewatched the Final Cut with 7.1 DTS in 4K. In my last review I mentioned that the grainy noir visuals give it a classic style. The crispness showcased the incredible lighting and the smoke effects often diffusing the light into a comforting yet cold glow. I was also very happy to see the unicorn dream sequence return, the film feels so much more complete with it.

Challengers 2024
This was my first Guadagnino film, and it was such an incredible piece of art. The camerawork, the characters, the editing, everything. This was such an awesome way to tell this story, and is some of the best use of flashbacks I've seen. It built the tension perfectly creating an unbelievable ending, and Reznor created a great soundtrack to match it.
