I went into this pretty blind but could instantly tell it is a movie made after a novel, mostly because half of it is missing.
The relationship between mother and daughter in the swamp is hard to imagine, how those ten years must have been and how the father kept the two emotionally apart enough to keep the true circumstances of their living situation opaque.

Pretty much a wreck.
The gimmick of this movie is the time reversal thing, which is explained with the words "Best not to think about." And that is what you should do, because if you think about it you are getting nowhere, since in the second half the plot devolves into standard time travel stuff, just after the characters spend an hour chasing some woman noone --especially the audience-- really knew.
