Mickey 17 2025
Mickey 17 is a lot of things. A lot of cool things, no doubt! The sound design in the theater was insane, for one. I never realized just how few movies sort of make you feel like Steven Yeun is right behind you. Then there’s the writing itself. There’s a sort of human beauty and irreverence to it that makes things feel complete and stuff. It’s messy, but it’s a good kind of messy…most of the time.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off 1986
I think in some ways you just can’t get another movie like this because you can’t get another movie that runs on Ferris Bueller logic. I mean, that parade scene is straight out of an old Dreamworks movie, but it sort of earns the right to do that kind of thing. And if you think there’s something off about how the movie paces itself, no there isn’t. The sooner you let a movie be, the sooner Ferris Bueller gets back home like nothing ever happened.
