  Maggie Gyllanhaal gives an extraordinary performance as Lisa, a teacher who begins to obsess over her precocious student Jimmy (Parker Sevak). While she struggles to impress her poetry teacher (Gael Garcia Bernal) at her continuing education class, she sees 5 year old Jimmy pacing up and down coming up with impressive prose as he does. As the film progresses, Lisa’s actions become more disturbing and reckless. It was a very impressive film with Gyllenhaal on top form. Some scenes made for very uncomfortable viewing and the ending was heartbreaking. Really good stuff.
