I liked it. It’s a bit scruffy and heavy-handed, swinging between super goofy and unexpectedly poignant. Bong Joon-Ho continues to oscillate between serious, incisive storytelling and slapstick farce, which makes me curious about his next film.
This isn’t as surgical as Parasite. It’s not the same kind of bitingly tragic commentary on how we subjugate each other, but it does tackle those themes—head-on. The first act is awesome, with Pattinson doing some cool-ass shit while also being painfully, obnoxiously hot…
