I simply cannot bring myself to dislike this movie. it is just so much fun! I honestly don't think any other movie has made me laugh this much in as short a run time. In a period where we are so starved for new entertainment, Nobody shines for being so self aware, so silly and yet so grounded, serious and gritty with it's action and plot.

Arrival was one of those rare occasions where the film industry squirts out an interesting, thought-provoking and original piece of science fiction. I must admit I always used to confuse this film with "Life" and "Passengers". although I haven't watched those films, I had always grouped them together with Arrival as "elevated" science fiction movies.
I thought the first act was quite weak and the narration in the beginning and middle were unnecessary but pretty much as soon as that…
