Again you know the story, the continuing saga of Frodo’s effort to destroy the one ring. This movie has one of my favorite moments in cinema, when Gandalf and the Rohirim are charging down the hill and the sun rises behind them. Glorious

Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain 2021
I miss Anthony Bourdain immensely. His voice and empathy are desperately missed at this time. This documentary is a tad complicated. It’s shot by his crew, it’s a reminiscence but it also makes it plain to see that for all of his empathy and the like, he did have a little bit it of a narcissistic asshole streak. Of course, to be fair I think long term fans kinda knew that one. I really did enjoy this, did get occasionally dusty in here.

Fargo 1996
This has become one of my comfort movies. The story of a Minneapolis car salesman who desperately needs money and stages his wife’s kidnapping in order to get her rich father pay ransom and of course, this being a Coen brothers film, IT ALL GOES WRONG. Featuring a transcendent Oscar winning performance from Frances McDormand as a small town police chief investigating the murders that will blow apart the plot, this is a powerful film that still holds up

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring 2001
Watched this for the first time in a long time. You know the plot and you know the story, and it’s still damn perfect
