The 6th Day 2000
Right at the end of Arnie's 80' & 90's slate of action hero blockbusters. The 6th Day on rewatch feels like it must have been ambitious for the time as the VFX struggle to remain standing and the editing feels like its trying hard to be something new. Its a fun action romp in a subgenre that really doesn't have a huge back catalogue.
Its also crazy what you could get away with in storytelling 30 years ago.. "open the esky…

Sam Rockwell and the Make Up are the hero’s of this movie. Sam’s performance as the 1st Sam Bell is tip top.
I could not understand why a corporation would create clones that think they are human to perform maintenance as opposed to just robots doing the same thing… did I miss something?

This movie is not out to scare you, its out to move you.
Like good horror films the supernatural elements elevate what would be a decent story for drama. At its core its a just about our basic need to be accepted and belong, to love and be loved. And the Vampire elements are secondary and really ratchet up the tension surrounding the unlikely friendship and tension in the world they live in.
How could it possibly end well?
