an atmospheric, haunting, beautiful and eerie film that sees lily rose depp and bill skarsgard in arresting, demanding performances. it feels like watching a piece of art- each image so thoughtfully rendered, framed and connected to the next scene. what it might lack in scares, it makes up for in form. willem dafoe is clearly having so much fun here- and it watching him play the line between whimsy and mania made me giggle with delight

Bram Stoker's Dracula 1992
for a novel written in 1897, and a film made in 1992, it still feels relevant by tackling some of the most important themes of our current day: horrible billionaires, cucking, and real estate fraud.

Saltburn 2023
too british, too long (which to me is connected- who but a UK film nepo baby director thinks they have the right in a final act to place multiple fu****** landscape shots)
it was fine, it’s gross. it didn’t live in any genre so when the moments where they found a beat it was good!! but then 5 minutes later, it was unraveled. i’m all for a movie of different moods, but i didn’t love how intentionally idiosyncratic it felt…
