all of the criticism that Anora glorifies sex workers, or promotes it, or any of that feels like such a grossly undeveloped takeaway from this movie. anyway, the film is beautiful and funny and sad and i nearly cried. mikey madison deserved that oscar.

just a fantastic cast, fantastic in general! really enjoyed how it strayed away from the common biopic theme of heroizing the person it’s about, timothee’s portrayal of bob dylan feels like an authentic, multi-faceted character

i’ll say something meaningful about this once i get my bearings

edit: i’ve gotten my bearings. this movie is wonderful. florence pugh and andrew garfield have such great chemistry that they bring a sense of vulnerability and intimacy to the movie, it feels almost like an invasion to talk about it. i love that this focuses not on the overarching journey, the end or the beginning, but the moments in between, and all of the devotion. pugh’s character refuses any motherly stereotypes, the script respects her 3-dimensions.
