currently wondering how I've only watched this now?? and for a class no less?? I feel like even though I'm an asian person, I really have no lens to see eastern cultural practices besides the media I view. movies that concentrate on embracing one's culture always put me in a limbo of emotions. I see these events happening on screen and I feel as though I should relate, yet i only have the same frame of reference as any white north american. heartwrenching, well-paced, and introspective.

this was so freaking cute hyldeheleheke. all I knew about this movie was that it was a fire girl and water guy falling in love but omg it was also like interracial couple and immigrant child struggles ofhdkrhek I cry. def won't win the oscar against boy and the heron and spiderverse but it did have that disney spark to it and that's what matters to me.
