holy shit, this movie is the epitome of comfort movies to me. perhaps it’s because i was trying to process traumatic events the first time i watched it, but i remember watching this movie literally on loop. i would dissociate in school to a point of concern, pretending that i was a Wild Thornberry. i still love this movie beyond belief. also i have a shower curtain of Nigel in my bathroom now.
overall, great show. the dramatization of actual historical events was just enough to amp up the entertainment while still paying respect to the facts. the casting and character were also spot-on, who knew you could become so attached to a character in a few episodes.
a warning, however. do NOT watch this show while eating unless you find the images of people literally melting from radioactive exposure appetizing
the feeling i have most associated with the scooby doo franchise is sitting in our living room as a week tyke and turning up the volume to drown out the sound of my parents fighting in the kitchen. while i prefer the animated movies, such as The Witches Curse and that one that took place in louisiana, the live action does not disappoint, which you could probably tell by my 5 star review. in short, this movie offered protection from the real mysteries of the worlds, such as “why did my parents split up?”
