April 2023: 2022's theme was disappointment and disasters for me. Expectations for 2023 are therefore low, especially with all of the sequels this year. So far, found a few solid successes so I have hope, however small, that this year might turn out okay. Anything has to be better than last year.

Aug: wow, things are actually turning out well for 2023. I'm genuinely surprised. It's not a huge list but it's a dense one. The things that are working really work even if there aren't that many. Oscar season is approaching and my expectations have been raised. Don't let me down 2023!

Dec: we ended on a very VERY high note. Maybe one of the highest notes in a while? Godzilla Minus One and Poor Things are all time favorites. Beau Is Afraid and Monster, too! Can't remember a year as strong as this in a while and I still haven't gotten to a bunch.
