$4,000 sure went a helluva long way in 1980. This movie is rich with characters who all seem to be some kind of loser. Elderly wannabe mafioso. Washed up bedridden beauty queen. Dead end job daydreamer with a crazy skincare routine. Bad at crime predator ex husband. Hollow brained little sister. The movie spends the perfect amount of time with each one.

Black Christmas 1974
I would have given this movie five stars if the killer only whispered on the phone or if they gave some throwaway line at the beginning about the house being soundproofed by a previous owner. How could they overlook the glaring plot hole of noone hearing a man screaming upstairs for two days straight?
