Oldboy 2003
Suspenseful, twisted, unnerving. As far us thrillers go this one really does not let you get comfortable for too long. An uncertain plot that twists at each possible time and in a direction you didn’t really think existed. The performances were took notch showing the depravity of some characters and the raw egos exposed to influence beyond their own comprehension of others. Am I better for seeing it? Doubtful. Was it a good movie? Definitely.

The black and white film choice created a beautiful highlighting affects of the setting and characters that allowed the viewer to fixate on the emotion of what was happening in the film. From light hearted beginnings this movie was never happier than what ever scene came prior. The characters were not overly complex but their turmoil was evoking if nothing else. Love, loss, ruthless humanity all on display and illuminated against a social setting lost to time and unto its own self.
