I would LOVE to lean into interpreting this movie as satire and a lot of it actually is, but the interesting flaws simply aren't. I'm fascinated by the fact that this story wanted to reflect on the effects of aging on women and the competitiveness between mothers and daughters/within the self to a younger self/between the self and societal standards, and then it tripped comically two steps into the race and painted Sue as the most selfish nightmarish frivolous narcissist…
If u grew up in a country that was, say, 51.6% not religious and only 32.3% Christian, this movie feels exactly like a bad creepypasta with hammy colour grading and two counts of an attempt at haunting of hill house background ghosts that remarkably resemble that weird textured "3D" images u would get in the early 2000s that sometimes required a plastic paddle to see

Found this a surprise gem with some really amazing moments of emotion and powerful acting. A refreshingly natural and believable depiction of how to integrate feminist issues into a story without it being what I normally expect from large-scale media, i.e. the eyerolling hyper simplisticim with unnatural, shoehorned dialogue. This show made me cry multiple times, and phenomenal acting.
