Cronos 1992
It's interesting to see the beginnings of what would become recurring themes and imagery in GDT's work. This is slow, less stylized, but most of the essentials are there. A cautionary tale, tension between wrong and right, wounds and Ron Perlman. I love the relationship between Jesus and his granddaughter, their bond is communicated especially well when she offers her toy chest as a coffin and tucks him in. The third act is kind of sloppy, but that's alright I'm not really complaining.

Although it kinda dragged in parts, the whole is really solid. Super slice of life/mumblecore. I didn’t expect it to feel so nostalgic, and I wonder if that might be a recurring thing I run into with y2k mx movies. We’ll see. I think I like the delivery guy the best.

So over saturated with its message but somehow makes it work. Both mean spirited and deeply empathetic. I love monster elisasue, she’s my best friend. Sometimes a movie just needs to have the audacity, and this definitely has it. Understandably polarizing. Bring back hagsploitation.
