"Anora for best picture!" Did we watch the same movie?

A movie about an insufferably superficial New York girl falling in love with an immature, goofy Russian boy. A couple funny moments in this "comedy" that wanted so badly to be a drama, but did neither particularly well. The humor is found in the comically incompetent goons who hoard way too much of the runtime. Moderately entertaining for the first hour, dragging for the remaining 80 minutes. Additional consideration has been given for the endearing "puppy love" moments.

Let's get the bad out of the way: I found this film really boring. Nothing all that exciting or engaging occurs in the plot, save for a little bit of body horror. And, personally, I found the 70's film-grain aesthetic (acting, costuming, scenery, cinematography, etc.) rather unpleasant, but that's just me. To its credit, this movie does not include artistic cutaways and cameos, unlike some other recent releases (looking at you, Megalopolis).

I think they spent more on the cardboard cutout than the production of the movie

A funny, "what-if" crowdpleaser based on the space race and Apollo 11 moon landing, including its supposedly-staged filming.

Altough the movie drives home Cole's nobility through heavy-handed secondhand characterization, all the characters play their roles well. And, as you'd expect from an Apple production, you get plenty of big names, beautiful wide shots, and one-liners. A big budget also demands a hefty ROI, vis-à-vis a large audience. Films that try new things do not garner crowds, so you will find only tried and true film-making practices, acting, storylines, etc.

Overall, you're looking at a solid rom-com, heavy on the "com".
