a reckless, irresponsible, lazy, nothing of a movie. there are a lot of provocative ideas that are thrown out in a kitchen sink approach, and absolutely no commitment to a coherent point of view or position on any of them. there isn’t the slightest attempt to recon with the moral or social implications of appropriating a trans identity for fame and money. it’s bullshit edgelord filmmaking that didn’t even bother crafting a coherent narrative.

insane movie, has way more in common with coppola’s under-seen late period stuff than the staples of his canon. a lot of people are going to go in expecting “classic” coppola and be dumbfounded and disengage entirely 5 minutes in, like the group sitting next to me who constantly scoffed and gave each other this look the whole time. if you’re not gonna even attempt to get on a film’s wavelength, what are you even doing here?
