classic french film. depressing and anti-climactic. and of course i loved every second. louis garrel seems to have perfected the torture of self-restraint. léa seydoux was captivating as always. somehow, the interweaving of so many love triangles made up for the lack of intense emotional performance. the backdrop of the bleak parisian winter added to the coldness of each character and amplified the gut punch of otto’s death. overall, this film was oddly comforting and took two tries to complete since i passed out ten minutes into my first watch due to a half bottle of red wine.
