Though not quite as impactful in its depiction of the closed-door violence of American torture as the first, Day of the Soldado still takes a sharp aim at the US government's drive toward violence, this time focusing on how it is exported to the rest of the world.
It's not perfect. Scenes of violence tend to be a bit more exaggerated than Villeneuve's original. But damn do I like this film.
