Hot take - but I think this film being done in a serious context would’ve been less effective. I think it would have lead to people trying to invalidate the attempted accuracy of the depiction of future, when that’s really just not the point. Perfect movie. Sound track is unmatched. Shia Labeouf is incredible - his dedication to the role puts you into a trance that causes you to forget that he in fact is not a rockhopper penguin from Shiverpool that wants nothing more in life than to surf.
