Genuinely one of the objectively greatest films I’ve ever seen.
Darkly realistic. Horrifying. Real. I struggle to find the words to describe the experience this film is. Representing the first true film adaptation of the parent text, this delivers on all fronts. A realistic depiction of young boys going off to war and losing their innocence, this harrowing work will leave you nothing short of devastated and hollow. A reminder that war produces no benefits and merely pits formerly innocent human beings against one another, All Quiet finally faithfully brings its source material to the big screen and takes you with it the whole way. Five stars.
