  Horrendous. Started of promisingly but soon ascended into chaos - and not in a good way. There are some nice underlying feminist / environmental / religious themes in this film, but other than that it’s just not enjoyable. It comes across as if Aronofsky couldn’t decide on what this film was meant to achieve - so, instead, he just flung a million different concepts into a cauldron and hoped for the best. Sadly, the best didn’t happen and this film just comes across as slapdash and a bit try hard.

  Beyond disturbing but thought provoking. This film has some of the best cinematography I’ve ever seen and some of the most horrific imagery I’ve ever seen. An absolutely sublime take on folkloric horror from start to finish.

  When I first watched this, I found it long winded and frankly a little bland. However, this is a film that has stayed with me - and one that I now consider inspiring, beautifully put together and honest. And I think that’s the power of Gerwig honestly - she creates moments which stay with you.
