really good zombie movie :) the descent into hell, the hole in the relationship at the core of the film tearing a bloody wound into the world around them, the screaming caustic freedom of breaking the bonds that tie you to the people you love. all things considered, ive seen drunk girls have worse nights out than this.
i really love tsai ming-liang's style, ive missed it, the gulfs between us that he captures. his long, lingering, shots, the languid, unhurried actions of theatregoers in their own worlds moving past each other, orbiting, sometimes changing trajectory, or, as it turns out, sometimes not. we exist in these walls and corridors and flickering images so briefly. please for the love of god wont someone suck this young man's dick

tsai has a way of capturing alienation that i find intoxicating, in a way. the characters are drifting, waiting to be sucked down a drain that long since stopped working. relationships are defined by a frustrated anhedonia; where there is passion, it's one-sided & articulated through destructive appeals for attention. heteroconformity is labour is your parents expectations is the only readily apparent path out of this aimlessness. there is no escaping this world. the rebels of the neon god are once again locked in their tower.
