the scene that hit me was at the airport where Vanya finally responds to Ani’s persistent pleas to not annul the marriage and he asks her whether she was stupid. It was this moment the curtains falls to the truth that was strikingly plain to everyone around her which finally dawns on her- that the one person she thought was on her side also saw her as another discardable, dispensable object. It was heartbreaking to see Ani’s face completely drop.

i actually liked this more than i thought I would. The scene where Romy and Samuel awkwardly negotiate their dynamic as they unravel both themselves and their sexual desires felt very real and intimate. I liked how they portrayed her desires as just a product of her innate self rather than popularly believed to be a result of her neurosis or distant childhood drama. However, the payoff didnt really match the anticipation and edging… No point crying over spilled milk, right? (haha)
benny boo-boo-boo-boo. this goes to show that you can be as insufferable as you’d like but if it is the right guy he will roll with it

I was not prepared for the emotional rollercoaster this film brought me on. At first i thought it was a normal romance period film with yearning that climaxed a bit too soon but oh boy the turn tables… I loved the cinematography and the storyline and how it explored guilt in storytelling, in the complexity in deciding to be truthful in every aspect or to embellish certain things for the audience. Although the true ending was not the one we would have liked, at least there was a portrayal of an imagined life where Robbie and Cee were in their blue brick house by the ocean…
