Nineteen Eighty-Four 1984
Actually adored this movie. I recently finished reading the book and wanted to watch its more popular adaptation. I think it fares far better in addition to the book instead of being its own thing. I do not think I would’ve ranked it as high without the prior knowledge of the book as the movie tends to skip a lot of Orwell’s infodumping. I think the creators behind this movie understood Orwell’s world and beautifully translated it into screen. It is so out there and abstract at times, that I doubt I would have much of a clue what’s going on without reading the book first.

Walk the Line 2005
Good performances but how did they manage to cut out or significantly alter almost everything that happened in his life. Sure he had A LOT of flaws but damn they challenged themselves to make him the biggest asshole on screen. Great tip: if you’re going to make a biopic on someone that is portrayed as the good guy in the end maybe don’t exclude any redeeming quality he has from the entire film.
