I really respect the craft, ideas, sets, performances etc - it's all very good and deliberate. Yet I was only able to admire the film but I did not form a connection with it, I was never scared for the characters or moved by their actions or feelings (Eggers plots have become awfully occupied with pre-destined actions). In a way its a very rigid film which is a very accurare representation of its historical setting but also frustrating
