im convinced that this movie is a result of some recurring dreams/nightmares Francis ford Coppola has about the collapse of the US empire and that he was just very motivated to share his nighttime omens before he passes on - also not a fan of the weird CGI although some scenes were shot really well still I guess HAHA

went in only knowing about the director who’s apparently the Steven Spielberg of Malaya in the 50s - was quite bored with the self indulgent fight scenes but it was still cool seeing depictions of the Malayan Sultanate and the music was pretty nice (I went down a mini rabbit hole trying to find the right descriptors for his music but I ended up with more questions than answers… initially I had the impression that he was using Carnatic scales…
