    A maximalist fever dream - the American Dream realized, or, the birth of a killer.

    Sebastian Stan’s ability to slowly unspool Trump’s essence as he descents into megalomania is a major component of the film’s triumph. Jeremy Strong is electric as Roy Cohn, his subsequent downfall, juxtaposed with Trump’s hollow ascension, is handled masterfully. I missed him every second he wasn’t onscreen. 

    The music choices are exceptional, and the lens’s gritty grain effect and boxy aspect ratio a time machine.

    This is cinema as vibe. Feeling rather than story.

    The story jumps around and the plot threads fray - but I say let them! Who cares! Trying to cram the entire Arthurian legend into a two hour film was never about neatness anyway.
