Lucia 5 minutes in: “I have no fucking clue who any of these people are but this movie is pretty good”
I do wish they would have re-created some more of the OG sketches and stuck to the time limit posed by the ever-imposing clock. The temporal vortex of high pressure situations can definitely warp the clock, but the turning point fell a bit flat by not sticking to the dimensions posed by just needing to make it to live. Still really good though
The ending is either one of the saddest endings of all time or a surprisingly pleasant topper. This movie also proves that something as upsetting as a concentration camp doesn’t need music to provide chilling atmosphere.

The Apartment demonstrates how you can take complex themes and use a screen plot to bring them into a humanistic form—how a script can be both funny and depressing from one moment to another, just like our real lives. You can immediately see why this is a classic, and it engrosses you until the end unless you really hate old movies.
