    Interview with the Vampire

    ★★★★★

This film flawlessly filled me with an ardent appreciation of the unrelenting grind of vampiredom.

The luscious locks assumed by Brad Pitt’s broken hearted ‘louis de Pointe du Lac’ are aptly vampirish and, combined with his (initially human) character’s languishing despondency following the death of his wife and unborn child, foreshadowed an optimal and smooth character developement into vampiredom. Beautiful Boy

    ★★★★

Beautiful Boy discloses the devastating and desperately distressing events of real case of drug addiction and and the struggle to recovery - bringing the chronicles of Nic and David Sheff’s memoirs to the big screen.
Timothy Chalamet clasps the viewer in the palm of his hands with a phenomenally sensitive and seemingly effortless management of the immensely destructive effect of crystal meth, while Steve Carell captures the agonising feelings of responsibility and fear consuming those close to him.

Harrowing and heartbreaking - Nic and David Sheff you are an inspiration to us all.

    The Remains of the Day

    ★★★★

A quietly compelling film with highly nuanced performances, grand vistas, and a desperate stillness.

Hopkins’ Mr Stevens is the toughest nut to crack, with an unwavering pursuit of dignity and formality to the detriment of developing intimate relationships or personal opinions.

Emma Thompson perfectly balances the qualities of professional reserve required of Miss Kenton with a heartfelt frankness, excruciatingly missed by Mr Stevens.

Remains of the day is a cautionary tale and powerful reminder that our responsibilities not only lie in our professional duties but perhaps much more importantly in seizing the moment and valuing human connection!!
