It's pretty funny, intentional and unintentional, Kristen Scott Thomas delivers, and it looks gorgeous... But the story is a total dud. I rolled my eyes through most of it. One dimensional characters, zero suspense, pretentious, and too much gore = a beautiful misfire. It does make me want to go to Thailand though.
Life Lessons from Martin Scorsese is a masterpiece. The other two fall in comparison.
Criterion should re-issue director Kazuhiko Hasegawa's totally forgotten, wildly imaginative mini-masterpiece. Hasegawa has since completely vanished from filmmaking.
